OPTIONAL INSURANCE
- DEPENDS ON THE VALUE OF YOUR MERCHANDISE:

I normally do NOT insure your package, UNLESS you specifically request that I send it via INSURED MAIL, and you agree to pay the insurance costs. I am NOT responsible for damage to a package that occurs after I have dropped it off at the post office (if you'd like to see a picture of what couuld POSSIBLY happen to your package, click here). If you are concerned about the package being lost or damaged, I highly recommend the insurance, it is not expensive (see rates below).

FOREIGN CUSTOMERS (Outside of the U.S.): Please note that packages shipped via "SMALL PACKET" can NOT be sent via insured OR registered mail (this is the post office's policy, not mine). If you wish to have your package sent via insured OR registered mail, you MUST select "parcel post" from the international rate calculator web page. In addition, please note that many countries will charge you an IMPORT TAX based on the DECLARED VALUE of your package (rates vary by country, and I do NOT know how much you will be charged, if anything).

If you want your package insured, you MUST insure it for the FULL VALUE of the item(s) in the package (in other words, the "sub-total" on the order form page). Customers OUTSIDE of the U.S. may have to pay import taxes to receive the package. If you are outside of the U.S., and are concerned about paying import taxes on your item(s), please request that I put a "low value" on the customs form, and I will write the "declared value" of the items to be lower than they actually are. However, if I put a "low value" on the customs form, I can NOT insure the item(s) for their actual value (in other words, "you can't have it both ways").

Here are the current insurance coverage rates:

Coverage up to $50.00 is $1.30
Coverage from $50.01 to $100.00 is $2.20
Coverage from $100.01 to $900.00 is $3.20 for the first $100.00, PLUS $1.00 per additional $100.00 coverage
I DO NOT "mark up" these insurance rates - these are the actual rates charged by the U.S. postal service.
REMEMBER, items sent outside the USA via "LETTER POST" can NOT be insured!

REGISTERED MAIL - THE SAFEST WAY TO RECEIVE YOUR PACKAGE:

If you want your package sent via REGISTERED MAIL, I charge an additional $8.00 for registered mail services - this $8.00 ("flat-rate") cost is ABOVE AND BEYOND ANY other postage and packaging charges. However, registered mail means your package is accounted for, and kept under lock and key EVERY STEP of the way, and it is virtually IMPOSSIBLE for anything to happen to it! Simply stated, registered mail is the ABSOLUTE SAFEST way to ship ANYTHING. If you are very concerned about the safety and/or security of your package, I do recommend registered mail.

The $8.00 registered mail fee includes the time, effort, and materials it takes for me to properly fill out all the necessary forms and paperwork, as well as the super-secure packaging methods and materials required by the U.S. post office. The post office charges me $7.50 for registered mail, plus it takes a long time to correctly fill out all the necessary forms, and I have to seal the entire package with special tamper-proof tape (this is why I charge the additional 50 cents for my own labor and materials, making the total $8.00).

Packages sent via registered mail are AUTOMATICALLY insured for up to $500.00, so you do NOT need to add additional insurance. Remember, this $8.00 registered mail fee does NOT include postage and packaging! Also, please note that most packages that weigh over 4 pounds can NOT be sent overseas via registerd mail (depends on the country)! These are all the post office's policies, not mine, so I can NOT change them for anybody, under any circumstances!
